About
I’m an complete amateur machinist just starting to learn the trade. In my early 30’s and with a young family, finding time for the workshop is tough, but it’s a great outlet for the blend of structure and creativity that I look for. That’s what I love about machining: it’s technical, precise, formulaic and yet, completely artistic with a sense of creativity and problem solving that would make MacGyver giddy.
I’ve started this blog for several reasons.
1.) Chronicle my experiences of starting from complete scratch in learning this trade
2.) Aggregating all the information I come across as an aid to myself as well as others going down this path
With that said, after a year of starting to learn, I’ve found my motto for the workshop is now:
“If there’s a way to screw it up, I’ll find it so you don’t have to”
